The Ad Hoc Working Group on Establishment of Codex Priority Lists of Pesticides will meet in Room "Claus" at 10.00 hours on Saturday 29 March and the Ad Hoc Working Group on Methods of Analysis will meet in Room "Claus" on Tuesday 1 April 2003 at 11.00 hours.

ANNOTATIONS TO THE PROVISIONAL AGENDA


Item 1 Adoption of the Agenda: In accordance with Rule V.1 of the Rules of Procedure, the first item on the Provisional Agenda shall be the adoption of the Agenda.
Item 2 Appointment of the Rapporteurs: In accordance with Rule II.5 and established practice, the Committee will nominate rapporteurs as necessary.
Item 3 Matters Referred to the Committee by the Codex Alimentarius Commission and/or Other Codex Committees: The Committee will consider matters referred to it by the Codex Committees that met since the 34th Session of the Committee. Document CX/PR 03/2 to be prepared by the Codex Secretariat
Item 4 Report on General Considerations by the 2001 and 2002 Joint FAO/WHO Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR): The Committee will consider Section 2 of report items on general consideration by the 2001 and 2002 JMPR which have certain implications for the work of the Committee.
Item 5 Dietary Exposure in Relation to MRL Setting: - Discussion paper on the Proposals for Improvement Methodology for Point Estimates: At the request of the 34th Session of the CCPR, the document CX/PR 03/3 to be prepared by The Netherlands with assistance of their drafting partners.
Item 6 GEMS/Food Progress Report of Dietary Intakes: The paper (CX/PR 03/4)on this issue will be provided by WHO.
Item 7 Draft and Proposed Draft Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Foods and Feeds at Steps 7 and 4. This item includes consideration of Draft and Proposed Draft MRLs at Step 7 and 4 of the Codex Procedure, revocation of existing MRLs, combined lists of MRLs for certain sets of related pesticides. The document CX/PR 03/5 containing data base for MRLs to be prepared by the Codex Secretariat and CX/PR 03/5-Add.1 containing comments to be prepared by the Dutch Secretariat.
Item 8 Risk Analysis Policies Used in Establishing Codex MRLs for Pesticides – The paper outlining the risk analysis policies used in establishing Codex MRLs for pesticides to be prepared by the Codex Secretariat (document CX/PR 03/6).
Item 9 Matters Related to Methods of Analysis for Pesticide Residues: (to be considered by the Ad Hoc Working Group)
(a) Proposed Draft Revised Guidelines on Good Laboratory Practice in Residue Analysis at Step 7. The Committee is invited to finalize its work on the above Guidelines. Government comments in response to will be incorporated into document CX/PR 03/7 to be prepared by the Dutch Secretariat.
(b) Discussion paper on the Estimation of Uncertainty of Measurements. At the request of the 34th Session of the Committee the paper to be prepared by the United Kingdom (document CX/PR 03/8).
(c) Discussion Paper on Multiple Peaks for the Estimation of Uncertainty. The document CX/PR 03/9 on problems of multi-component analysis in the estimation of uncertainty of results based on the analysis of multiple peaks to be prepared by FAO/IAEA.
(d) Discussion Paper on the Revision of the List of Methods of Analysis for Pesticide Residues The document CX/PR 03/10 will be prepared by the Netherlands.
(e) Proposals for New Tropical Fruit and Vegetable Commodities. The Committee will be invited to consider proposals for new tropical and vegetables for which the Member states would like to establish national and Codex MRLs. The document CX/PR 03/11 to be prepared by the Netherlands.
Item 10 Establishment of Codex Priority Lists of Pesticides: The elaboration of the priority list corresponds to Step 1 of Codex Elaboration Procedure for Codex MRLs. The Committee will consider a paper CX/PR 03/12 prepared by Australia based on proposals received in response to CL 2002/16-PR as well as Criteria for Prioritization Process to be prepared by Australia in cooperation with the Codex Secretariat (document CX/PR 03/13).
Item 11 Discussion Paper on the Pilot Project for the Examination of National MRLs as Interim Codex MRLs for Safer Replacement Pesticides – At the request of the last Session of the Committee a paper to be prepared by the United States of America (Document CX/PR 03/14).
Item 12 Discussion Paper on the Consideration of Elaboration of MRLs for Spices – Following the decision of the 34th Session of the Committee, a paper CX/PR 03/15 will be prepared by South Africa.
Item 13 Discussion Paper on the Need for the Revision of the Codex Classification of Foods and Animal Feeds - The Committee will be invited to consider a paper CX/PR 03/16 prepared by the Netherlands.
Item 14 Other Business and Future Work: In accordance with Rule V.5 of the Rules of Procedure, any Member of the Commission may, after dispatch of the Provisional Agenda, propose the inclusion of specific items in the Agenda with respect to matters of an urgent nature. The Committee may propose to undertake new work, which shall be in compliance with the Medium Term Objectives and subject to the approval by the Commission or its Executive Committee.
Item 15 Date and Place of Next Session. The Committee will be advised of the venue and the tentative dates of the next meeting.
Item 16 Adoption of the Report: In accordance with Rule VIII of the Rules of Procedure and established practice, the Committee shall adopt the report of its 35th Session, based on a draft provided by the Secretariat.
Item 17 Maximum Residue Limits for Processed or Ready-to-Eat Foods or Feeds (Doc. Ref. CX/PR 03/17).  The paper attemps to clarify and recommend policies regarding the establishment of MRLs for processed foods.
Item 18 Removal of An Extraneous Burden from the Workload of the JMPR (Doc. Ref. CX/PR 03/18).  The paper contains some ideas on easing the workload on the JMPR.
