Notes on the 
Provisional Agenda

Opening of the Session: The Session will be opened by the representative of host country.

Agenda Item 1. Adoption of the Agenda (Doc. Ref. CX/NFSDU 03/1). In accordance with Rule V.1 of the Rules of Procedure, the first item on the Provisional Agenda shall be the adoption of the Agenda.

Agenda Item 2.Matters Referred to the Committee by the Codex Alimentarius Commission and/or Other Codex Committees (Doc. Ref. CX/NFSDU 03/2). The Committee is invited to consider matters referred to it by the Codex Alimentarius Commission and/or other Committees. The document is based on the information prepared by the Codex Secretariat.

Agenda Item 3. Guidelines for the Use of Nutrition Claims: Draft table of conditions for nutrient contents (Part B containing provisions on dietary fibre at Step 7). In order to facilitate discussion on this matter, the delegations will be invited to consider the Discussion Paper Including Proposals for a Definition, Methods of Analysis and Conditions for Dietary Fibre Content prepared by the government of France with assistance of their partners (Document CX/NFSDU 03/3).

Agenda Item 4. Draft Revised Standard for Gluten-Free Foods at Step 7. At the request of the 24th Session of the Committee this item is placed on the Provisional Agenda (document CX/NFSDU 00/4). The report of the Working Group on Prolamin Analysis and Toxicity (WGPAT) would be issued as CX/NFSDU 03/4.

Agenda Item 5. Proposed Draft Guidelines for Vitamin and Mineral Supplements (Doc Ref. ALINORM 03/26A, Appendix IV). The current text of the document is a consequence of improvements made during the 24th Session of the Committee, comments at Step 3 are compiled in CX/NFSDU 03/5.

Agenda Item 6. Proposed Draft Revised Standard for Infant Formula (Doc. Ref. ALINORM 03/26A, Appendix II). The current text of the Proposed Draft Revised Standard is based on improvements made by the 24th Session of the Committee. The Report produced by the Drafting Group would be circulated separately before the 25th Session of the CCNFSDU and would be considered by the Working Group to be convened prior to the Session. The Report of the Working Group would be available as CRD 1. CRD 2 containing comments in response to CL 2003/4-NFSDU, January 2003 for the revision of Section 3. Compositional Requirements by the Drafting Group will issued in original language and available at the meeting. Section on Additives revised by the government of Switzerland will be available as CRD 3. Comments on other sections at Step 3 in response to CL 2002/51-NFSDU would be compiled in CX/NFSDU 03/6.

Agenda Item 7. Proposed Draft Revised Standard for Processed Cereal-Based Foods for Infants and Young Children (Doc. Ref. ALINORM 03/26A, Appendix III). The Committee is invited to consider the Proposed Draft Guidelines as amended during the last Session of the Committee. Section on Additives revised by the government of Switzerland will be available as CRD 4. Comments on other sections will be compiled in document CX/NFSDU 03/7.

Agenda Item 8. Proposed Draft Revision of the Advisory List(s) of Mineral Salts and Vitamin Compounds for the Use in Foods for Infants and Children (CAC/GL 10-1979) (Doc. CX/NFSDU 03/8). Following the decisions by the 24th Session of the CCNFSDU, Germany revised the above document. Comments are compiled in CX/NFSDU 03/8-Add.1.

Agenda Item 9. Proposed Draft Recommendations on the Scientific Basis of Health Claims (Doc. CX/NFSDU 03/9). Following the decision of the 24th Session of the CCNFSDU, the paper on this issue will be prepared by the government of France with assistance of their partners. Comments at Step 3 will be compiled in CX/NFSDU 03/9-Add.1.

Agenda Item 10. Discussion Paper on the Application of Risk Analysis Applied to the Work of the CCNFSDU (Doc. CX/NFSDU 03/10). Following the decision of the 24th Session of the CCNFSDU, a discussion paper on this matter to be prepared by the government of Australia.

Agenda Item 11. Other Business and Future Work. In accordance with Rule V.5 of the Rules of Procedure, any Member of the Commission may propose the inclusion of specific items of an urgent matter. The Committee may propose to undertake new work which shall be in compliance with the Medium Term Objectives and subject to approval by the Codex Alimentarius Commission or its Executive Committee.

Agenda Item 12. Date and Place of the Next Session. The Committee will be advised of the tentative place and dates of the next meeting.

Agenda Item 13. Adoption of the Report. In accordance with Rule VIII of the Rules of Procedure, the Committee shall adopt the report of its 25th Session based on a draft provided by the Secretariat.
