Draft Code of
Hygienic Practice for Meat (ALINORM 03/16A, Appendix III)
The 9th CCMPH forwarded the proposed draft Code of Hygienic Practice for Meat to the Codex Alimentarius Commission for preliminary adoption at Step 5 (ALINORM 03/16A, para. 77). The 26th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission adopted the proposed draft Code of Hygienic Practice for Meat at Step 5 advancing it to Step 6 for circulation, comments and consideration at the 10th Session of the Codex Committee on Meat Hygiene. The draft Code of Hygienic Practice for
Meat is being circulated for comments at Step 6 under CL 2003/23-MH. Comments
submitted at Step 6 are summarised in document CX/MH 04/10/3.

Proposed Draft
Annex on Risk-Based Post-Mortem Examination Procedures for Meat (CX/MH
04/10/4)
The 9th CCMPH decided to append the proposed draft Annex on Risk-Based Post-Mortem Examination Procedures for Meat to its report for comments at Step 3 (see CL 2003/10-MPH, part B). The Committee agreed that a drafting group would prepare a revised version of the Annex for circulation, additional comments and further consideration at its next meeting and with the understanding that the revised version would be circulated not later than 30 September 2003 (ALINORM 03/16A, para. 90). Comments submitted at Step 3 are summarised
in document CX/MH 04/10/4, Add.1.

Proposed Draft
Annex on Microbiological Verification of Process Control of Meat Hygiene
(CX/MH 04/10/5)
The 9th CCMPH appended the proposed
draft Annex on Microbiological Verification of Processed Control of Meat
Hygiene to its report for comments at Step 3 (see CL 2003/10-MPH, part
B). The Committee agreed that a drafting group would prepare a revised
version of the Annex for circulation, additional comments and further consideration
at its next meeting, and with the understanding that the revised version
would be circulated not later than 30 September 2003 (ALINORM 03/16A, para.
102).

Discussion Paper
on Hygiene Provisions for Processed Meat (CX/MH 04/10/6)
The 8th CCMPH requested that a discussion paper be prepared by New Zealand, with the assistance of the Codex Secretariat, on hygiene provisions for processed meat for potential inclusion in the proposed draft Code of Practice for Fresh Meat for consideration at its next meeting. The extension of the Scope of the proposed draft Code to include provisions for the hygiene of processed meat for approved by the 50th Session of the Executive Committee (ALINORM 03/3A, para. 85 and Appendix II). In view of time constraints, the Discussion Paper on Hygiene Provisions for Processed Meat (CX/MPH 03/7) was not circulated for comments and the 9th CCMPH decided to request comments on the document with a comment deadline of 30 June 2003 (see CL 2003/10-MPH, part B). The Committee agreed that a drafting group would prepare a revised version of the hygiene provision for processed meat for circulation, additional comments and further consideration at its next meeting , and with the understanding that the revised version would be circulated not later than 30 September 2003 (ALINORM 03/16A, para. 106). Other Business
and Future Work
In accordance with Rule V.5 of the Rules
of Procedure, any Member of the Commission may propose the inclusion of
specific items of an urgent matter. The Committee may propose to undertake
new work which shall be in compliance with the Medium Term Objectives and
subject to the approval by the Commission or its Executive Committee.

Adoption of
the Report
The Committee shall adopt a report of its
10th Session based on a draft provided by the Secretariat.
