Item 1    Adoption of the Agenda: In accordance with Rule V.1 of the Rules of Procedure, the first item on the Provisional Agenda shall be the adoption of the Agenda.

Item 2    Matters Arising from the Codex Alimentarius Commission and the other Codex Committees: This item includes matters related to CCFO arising from recent sessions of the Commission and other Committees.

Item 3    Draft Revised Standard for Olive Oils and Olive Pomace Oils: The 17^th Session of Committee discussed this item and decided to return it to Step 6 for further comments and consideration in the 18^th session (Appendix IV of ALINORM 01/17).

Item 4    Draft Standard for Fat Spreads and Blended Spreads: The 17^th Session of Committee discussed the item and decided to advance it to Step 5(Appendix V of ALINORM 01/17). This was approved by the 49^th Session of Codex Executive Committee. The revised draft standard as a result of the discussion by the 17^th Session of Committee was circulated with CL 2002/21-FO for comments at Step 6.

Item 5    Proposed Draft Amendments to the Standard for Named Vegetable Oils ( Super Palm Olein and High Oleic Acid Sunflower Oil, Inclusion of new data in Table 3 and Table 4 of the Standard:

The Committee at its 17^th Session agreed to consider;

• the inclusion of Super Palm Olein and High Oleic Acid Sunflower Oil to the Standard for Named Vegetable Oils. The draft proposed standards for these oils, submitted by Malaysia and the United States of America were circulated with CL 2002/23-FO and CL 2002/47-FO respectively.

 
• Inclusion of new data of desmethysterols and tocopherole and tocotrienol for palm olein, palm stearin, rapeseed oil (high erucic acid) and mustard oil in Table 3 and Table 4 of the Standard and data were requested to member countries with CL 2002/23-FO; those submitted data are shown in CX/FO 03/5;

 
• Inclusion of new data of desmethysterols expressed in mg/kg on oils in Table 3 of the Standard and submitted data by member countries are shown also in CX/FO 03/5 and data were requested to member countries with CL 2002/23-FO; those submitted data are shown in CX/FO 03/5;

The 17^th session of the Codex Committee on Fats and Oils (CCFO) in February 2001 agreed to forward the Proposed Draft List of Acceptable Previous Cargoes (Appendix III ALINORM 01/17) to the 24^th Session of Codex Alimentarius Commission for its adoption at Step 5/8 with omission of Step 6 and 7.

However, in the 24^th Session of CAC, opinions were expressed that there is no clearly defined criteria and procedures for the evaluation of the substances to be included as acceptable previous cargoes and consequently Commission could not reach a consensus on the adoption of this list at Step 8. The Commission decided to adopt the list of acceptable previous cargoes only at step 5 and proceed it to step 6 for further consideration by the Committee of the issues raised. This List, Draft List of Acceptable Previous Cargoes was circulated for comments with CL 2002/22-FO.

The 17th Session of the Committee also agreed to consider addition of substances that were proposed by several member countries to the List and comments were requested to Proposed Draft List of Acceptable Previous Cargoes (Appendix VI of ALINORM 01/17) with circular letter CL 2001/4-FO(attached to ALINORM 01/17) and further CL 2001/49-FO.

Item 7    Consideration of amendment to the Recommended International Code of Practice for the Storage and Transport of Edible Fats and Oils in Bulk (Temperatures during storage, transport, loading and discharge); The 17^th Session of the Committte agreed that the delegation of Indonesia should present a short paper indicating justification of its proposal to amend the Table 1 of the Code( temperatures during storage, transport, loading and discharge). The documet CX/FO 03/8 was submitted by Indonesia for the consideration by the 18^th Session of the Committee.

Item 8    Other Business, Future Work and Date and Place of the Next Session: In accordance with Rule V.5 of the Rules of Procedure, any Member of the Commission may propose the inclusion of specific items of an urgent matter. Proposals to undertake new work on the elaboration of standards and related texts which shall be in compliance with the Medium Term Objectives and is subject to the approval by the Commission or its Executive Committee.

Item 9    Adoption of the Report: In accordance with Rule VIII.1 of the Commission's Rules of Procedure, the Committee shall adopt the report of its 18^th Session, based on a draft provided by the Secretariat.
