NOTES ON THE PROVISIONAL AGENDA

Agenda Item 1 – Adoption of the Agenda (CX/FICS 02/11/1):

The Committee will be invited to adopt the Provisional Agenda as the Agenda for the Session.

Agenda Item 2 – Matters Referred from the Executive Committee of the Codex Alimentarius Commission and Other Codex Committees (CX/FICS 02/11/2):

The document is an information paper prepared by the Codex Secretariat concerning matters referred and/or of interest from the Executive Committee of the Codex Alimentarius Commission and other Codex Committees.

Agenda Item 3 – Draft Guidelines on the Judgement of Equivalence of Sanitary Measures Associated with Food Inspection and Certification Systems (CX/FICS 02/11/3):

The 10th CCFICS appended the draft Guidelines on the Judgement of Equivalence of Sanitary Measures Associated with Food Inspection and Certification Systems to its report for comments (CL 2002/8-FICS). The Committee agreed that the drafting group led by New Zealand would prepare a revised version of the draft Guidelines for circulation, additional comment at Step 6 and further consideration at its next meeting (ALINORM 03/30, paras. 50-51 and Appendix III). Comments submitted at Step 6 in response to CX/FICS 02/11/3 are presented in document CX/FICS 02/11/3-Add. 1.

Agenda Item 4 – Proposed Draft Guidelines for the Utilization and Promotion of Quality Assurance Systems to Meet Requirements in Relation to Food (CX/FICS 02/11/4):

The 10th CCFICS returned the proposed draft Guidelines for the Utilization and Promotion of Quality Assurance Systems to Meet Requirements in Relation to Food to Step 2 for reformulating by the drafting group under the direction of Australia (ALINORM 03/30, para. 84). Comments submitted at Step 3 in response to CX/FICS 02/11/4 are presented in document CX/FICS 02/11/4-Add. 1.

Agenda Item 5 – Proposed Draft Revision to the Codex Guidelines for the Exchange of Information in Food Control Emergency Situations (CX/FICS 02/11/5):

The 10th CCFICS returned the proposed draft Revision to the Codex Guidelines for the Exchange of Information in Food Control Emergency Situations to Step 2 for revision by the drafting group led by Australia (ALINORM 03/30, para. 94). Comments submitted at Step 3 in response to CX/FICS 02/11/5 are presented in document CX/FICS 02/11/5-Add. 1.

Agenda Item 6 – Discussion Paper on the Judgement of Equivalence of Technical Regulations Associated with Food Inspection and Certification Systems (CX/FICS 02/11/6):

The 10th CCFICS agreed to defer further drafting of the proposed draft Guidelines on the Judgement of Technical Regulations Associated with Food Inspection and Certification Systems and requested the drafting group led by Australia to prepare a discussion paper for further consideration at its next Session (ALINORM 03/30, paras. 73-74). Comments submitted in response to CX/FICS 02/11/6 are presented in document CX/FICS 02/11/6-Add 1.

Agenda Item 7 – Discussion Paper on Traceability in the Context of Food Inspection and Certification Systems (CX/FICS 02/11/7):

The 10th CCFICS decided that a working group led by Switzerland should prepare a discussion paper for further consideration at its next Session (ALINORM 03/30, para. 67). Comments submitted in response to CX/FICS 02/11/7 are presented in document CX/FICS 02/11/7-Add. 1.

Agenda Item 8 – Other Business and Future Work:
Other business and proposals for future work will be considered.

Agenda Item 9 – Date and Place of Next Session:
The Chairperson will propose the tentative date and place of the next meeting, subject to discussions by the Codex and Australian Secretariats.

Agenda Item 10 – Adoption of the Report:
the Committee shall adopt a report of its 11th Session based on a draft provided by the Secretariat.
