The Ad hoc Working Group on Analytical Methods will meet on Friday 1 March from 13.00 to 17.00 hours in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, 1-2-2 Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda-ku.
The Plenary Session will be held in Pacifico Yokohama, Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama.

ANNOTATION TO THE PROVISIONAL AGENDA
Item 1 Adoption of the Agenda (Doc. Ref. CX/FBT 02/1): In accordance with Rule V.1 of the Rules of Procedure, the first item on the Provisional Agenda shall be the adoption of the Agenda.
Item 2 Matters referred to the Task Force by the Other Codex Committees (Doc. Ref. CX/FBT 02/2): The item includes matters related to the Task Force arising from sessions of other Codex Committees including the Executive Committee.
Item 3 Matters of Interest from Other International Organizations with respect to the Evaluation of the Safety and Nutrition Aspects of Foods Derived from Biotechnology (Doc. Ref. CX/FBT 02/3): The Task Force is invited to take note of the results of work done and/or being done by other relevant international fora and organizations in the field of the evaluation of the safety and nutrition aspects of foods derived from biotechnology, including those works done by FAO, WHO, UNEP/CBD and OECD.
Item 4 Consideration of Draft Principles for the Risk Analysis of Foods Derived from Modern Biotechnology at Step 7 (Doc.Ref. ALINORM 01/34A Appendix II): The Task Force is invited to consider at Step 7 the Draft Principles for the Risk Analysis of Foods Derived from Modern Biotechnology as amended by the Second Session of the Task Force. Government comments at Step 6 in reply to CL 2001/28-FBT are presented in the document CX/FBT 02/4.
Item 5 a) Consideration of Draft Guideline for the Conduct of Food Safety Assessment of Foods Derived from Recombinant-DNA Plants at Step 7 (Doc.Ref. ALINORM 01/34A Appendix III, CL 2001/38-FBT Annex II and III): The Task Force is invited to consider at Step 7 the Draft Guideline for the Conduct of Safety Assessment of Foods Derived from Recombinant-DNA Plants as amended by the Second Session of the Task Force. Government comments at Step 6 in reply to CL 2001/28-FBT and CL 2001/38-FBT Annexes II and III, are presented in the document CX/FBT 02/5 and CX/FBT 02/5-Add.1 respectively. The Second Session of the Task Force decided to invite the open-ended Working Group on Allergenicity chaired by Canada to prepare a reorganization of the section on toxicology and to ensure the scientific accuracy (ALINORM 01/34A, para.70). The CL 2001/38-FBT Annex II is the reorganized text of this section conducted by this Working Group. This Working Group further considered questions raised by the Chairman of the Task Force on the Draft Guideline and CL 2001/38-FBT Annex III is the response to the questions.
Item 5 b) Consideration of Proposed Draft Annex on the Assessment of Possible Allergenicity of the Draft Guideline for the Conduct of Food Safety Assessment of Foods Derived from Recombinant-DNA Plants at Step 4 (Doc.Ref. CL 2001/38-FBT Annex I): The Task Force is invited to consider at Step 4 the Proposed Draft Annex on the Assessment of Possible Allergenicity prepared by the Working Group chaired by Canada. Government comments at Step 3 are presented in the document CX/FBT 02/6.
Item 6 Consideration of Proposed Draft Guideline for the Food Safety Assessment of Recombinant-DNA Microorganisms in Food at Step 4 (Doc.Ref. CX/FBT 02/7): The Task Force is invited to consider at Step 4 the Proposed Draft Guideline for the Food Safety Assessment of Recombinant-DNA Microorganisms in Food prepared by the Working Group chaired by the United States. Government comments at Step 3 are presented in the document CX/FBT 02/7 Add.1.
Item 7 Discussion Papers on Traceability (Doc.Ref. CL/2001/27-FBT): The Task Force is invited to discuss the discussion paper prepared by France and the comment paper prepared by the United States, taking account of the guidance provided by the 49th Extraordinary Session of the Executive Committee. Government comments are presented in the document CX/FBT 02/8.
Item 8 Consideration of Analytical Methods (Doc.Ref. CX/FBT 02/9): The Task Force will receive a report from the Working Group on Analytical Methods chaired by Germany and is invited to consider further steps to be taken, taking into account the coordinating role of CCMAS.
Item 9 Other Business, Future Work and Date and Place of Next Session: The Task Force will be advised of the tentative dates of the next session.
Item 10 Adoption of the Report: In accordance with Rule VIII of the Rules of Procedure, the Task Force shall adopt the report of its Third Session based on a draft provided by the Secretariat.
