Adoption of Report |
1. Adoption of the Agenda: In accordance with Rule VI.2 of the Commission’s Rules of Procedure, the first item on the Provisional Agenda shall be the Adoption of the Agenda.
2. Implementation of the Joint FAO/WHO Evaluation of the Codex Alimentarius and other FAO and WHO Work on Food Standards: The Executive Committee will be invited to provide its guidance on Strategic and Managerial Matters, including the Strategic Planning and the establishment of criteria for standards management. As regards Budgetary, Planning and Programming Matters, the Executive Committee will be provided to note the the proposed actions to reduce the operational costs of Codex.
3. FAO/WHO Project and Trust Fund for Enhanced Participation in Codex: A third progress report of the Project and Trust Fund will be presented to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will be invited to provide guidance on the proposed criteria for eligibility of countries and the options for operation of the fund.
4. Other Matters arising from FAO and WHO: The Executive Committee will be invited to examine proposals on dealing with the requests for scientific advice from Codex subsidiary bodies, including the development of guidance for determining Codex-wide priority. A report on the FAO/WHO Consultative Process on Provision of Scientific Advice to Codex and Member States will also be provided by the FAO and WHO Secretariats.
5. Matters arising from the reports of Codex Committees and Task Forces: Relevant matters arising from the reports of Codex Committees and Task Forces will be brought to the attention of the Executive Committee for its information or advice as appropriate.
6. Draft Provisional Agenda for the 27th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission: This is a standing item on the agenda of the Executive Committee at its alternate sessions, in accordance with Rule VI.1 of the Commission’s Rules of Procedure.
7. Other business: In accordance with Rule VI.5 of the Commission’s Rules of Procedure, any Member of the Executive Committee may propose the inclusion of specific items of an urgent nature.
8. Adoption of Report: In accordance with Rule IX.1 of the Commission’s Rules of Procedure and with established practice, the Executive Committee will be invited to adopt the report of its 53rd Session based on a draft provided by the Secretariat.
