INFORMATION FOR DELEGATES

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Twenty-fourth Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission will be held at the International Conference Centre of Geneva (Salle II), 15 rue Varembé, Geneva, Switzerland.

The opening meeting will begin at 10.00 hours on Monday 2 July 2001. Registration will commence at 09.00 hours.

The Session will be conducted in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German and Spanish. Simultaneous interpretation facilities will be provided in these languages.

ATTENDANCE

The Session is open to Member Nations and Associate Members of FAO and WHO which are members of the Commission, and to the following observers:
 
• Member Nations and Associate Members of both Organizations which are not members of the Codex Alimentarius Commission;
• United Nations and its Specialized Agencies and other intergovernmental organizations interested in the work of the Commission;
• International non-governmental organizations with accredited Observer status with the Commission (see Principles Concerning the Participation of International Non-Governmental Organizations in the Work of the Codex Alimentarius Commission);

PUBLIC AND MEDIA PARTICIPATION

The Session will be held in public; members of the public and the media may attend subject to the availability of seats. Members of the media are advised to contact the Media Offices of FAO and WHO for press accreditation.

EXPENSES AND HOTELS

Expenses incurred in connection with attendance at sessions of the Commission and its subsidiary bodies and travel of delegations of the Members of the Commission and of the observers shall be borne by the governments or organizations concerned. Delegates are also reminded that they are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements (see List of Hotels).
